Seventies Number 10 DVD
   by nutsgeezer | 20 Jul 2005 12:01 am

Ok, so Im probably a little biased towards this dvd as its local, and dvds are always better if the riders and spots are familiar.

featured riders are:
Rob Fenlon, Ian Morris, Ross Tanner, Nick Vale, Richard 'Boyley' Ball(RIP), Mark Wood, Chris Barham, Jordan Kilby, Ben Jukes, Caleb Kilby, Sebastian Keep, Dan Price, Mark Tanner, Amos Burke, Dean Hearne, Edd Allen, Louis Whiting and more

run time is around 40 minutes but theres a ton of extras:
• Boyley Jam 03.
• Boyley Jam 04.
• Caleb's Gap.
• The Mad Scotsman.
• The Gold Medal Walk.
• Robin's Warehouse line.
• Slam Section.
• A short film by Tom Creasey.
• Seventies warehouse.
• More stuff!
• Deleted clips.
• Hidden extras.

The editting is awesome. Id say of all the bmx films Ive seen this has to be the most well editted Ive ever seen. Rather than each section just starting and having the riders name on the screen there is a little footage which kinda shows who they are e.g. Caleb making a cup of tea, Dan chopping a clock with his sword.
The soundtrack is good, all the songs fit perfectly with the sections. Biggest problem is that the songs arent creditted. I asked Ed Allen (who editted the video) why they arent and he said it was due to the copyright etc.

The first section is Caleb Kilby's, which in my opinion is the best overall. The intro to it works well, the music is great, and most importantly the riding is immense. Highlights are a 180 to rail to 180 off (which is a lot higher than it looks on camera), a huge gap to icepick the bottom section of a rail, and a crazy gap that is given its own extra feature.
The next section is shared by Ian Morris, Ross Tanner, Dean Hearne and Ben Jukes. Its a pity they dont all have their own sections as they are all so good! I think those 4 were grouped together as they are all federal bikes riders. Anyway, there's too much good stuff in there for me to go into.
After that there is several short sections, the best part in my opinion is a channel gap (which is about 8-9 feet) to downside ice by Louis Whiting.
I cant remember the order of sections after that. But Amos Burke does a really nice wallride fakie in his section. Mark Tanner has a great section, he does a cool gap to nose manual using picnic benches.
Baz Keep (who is probably the most well known rider featured) has a great section. He rides these crazy brick loop things and does stalls on the cracks, does some real big handrails, and stalls the huge sub box backboard at Hastings skatepark.
Robin Fenlon's section has a wacky, retro intro to his section. In it he does some great stuff, my favourite was the fufanu on his car roof!
Edd Allen, Dan Price and Nick Vale also have full length sections. Edd does a nuts alley-oop vertical smith 180, Dan's section doesnt let you know which way he rides, and Nick does a big kinked rail among other great stuff.

The extras are all worth watching, especially the Boyley jams, and the deleted footage is really long!

The cost of the video is £15 which is £5-7 cheaper than most videos, and considering the amount of footage its well worth it!

I give this 10/10

Cost: about £15 GBP
