Making a 20mm spindle work
   by Justin (thatotherguy84) | 23 Apr 2006 1:08 am

So recently I was faced with a dilemma, I had a brand new frame that used a euro BB and I only had a american BB crankset. It is a Haro crank, I never knew it until I had to purchase a euro BB that Haro uses a 20mm spindle, why this is I have no idea but I didn't have the $100+ for a new crank. Rigging it was my only option.

Materials
your 20mm spindle crankset
a 22mm euro BB (preferably S&M since it is steel cups)
3/4inch copper tubing
Hacksaw

Basically what we are doing is making a sleeve that doesn't slip.

First you cut the copper tubing the length of you BB shell, just enough to slide in the BB all the way but not to the point where it sticks out the sides. Then you get the hacksaw and cut the copper tubing longways, so you have to half circle sleeves to slide in your BB. Slide the two half circles in the BB and put the crank together. BAM! I just saved you over $100!!!

    Any questions just PM me.
