[Review] Alex Supra J
   by Charles | 31 May 2006 5:08 pm

I got the Alex Supra J Rim about 1/2 a year ago,

go because I was recently trying to get whoppers down and I kept ruining all my wheels.. It was easier snapped spokes, Crushed bearings, or seriously case of 'warped' rim. I tacoed probably 6-7 rims in one summer and it was seriously starting to get on my nerves. I would just find a new mongoose wheel and put it on and try one hop whip and the back wheel would hit the concrete at an angle and there goes that rim. I decided I needed something ALOT stronger so I wouldnt see this problem anymore.

I ordered a wheelset and liked it because of the tripple wall alex supra J on it and right away I got stuff together and went to town to do a little street riding. Taking my bike out of the car I noticed my wheel was flat!! Theres always a problem huh? I brought it to the bike shop and had them take the crappy rim strips off and survey the wheel for any sharp edges then put some rim tape on it and put the tires on carefully and filled it up to the MAX Psi. and its been 1/2 a year and believe it or not but I havnt had to deal with ONE flat tire or ONE tacoed rim. It's great. I advise you get them tensioned or trued on an average basis though. Perhaps ATLEAST once every 2 month depending on how hard/much you have been riding to keep them rollin' straight.

They have taken a good banging though. Lots of bails. Lots of messed whips have beaten them and there still rolling in a straight line.

The chrome however DOES suck.. I meen I dont even run brakes and the chrome is flaking off in some spots. Cant really complain though because the chrome is just as bad on any of the Odyssey rims considering Alex is the one who makes them so Alex is pretty worthy of making high quality rims that you can trust to stand the thrashing of everyday riding. I suppose its some what my fault though for not taking care of the chrome as I should have.

Dave Mirra has also ridden them alot and he's a pretty trendless guy. He has been riding a long time and does his own thing and starting his own company although Haro was paying him big and so fourth so he's not just going to ride Alex Supra J's because of something like he's being paid cash to. He's ridden them because there strong, trusty rims that can take the beating of backflip dropins and no-handed 360 backflips.

There pretty sweet looking rims. I liked the chrome and high sidewalls right away.

"J" is for Jumping. The new SUPRA "J" is the younger brother of the patented and bullet proof SUPRA ∑. Considerably lighter (590g), the triple wall construction is super tough and suitable for any kind of riding.

Supra J also includes the ALEX patented motorcycle hole drilling design.

Precise size: 20" x 1.75-2.125" 406X22 36/48H 590G

Weight: 22.2 oz.

Finish: CP/Black w/CSW

Joint: WJ

-Tall sidewalls and welded seam

-Center beam design with offset spokes holes for increased rigity and less weight.

Considering all this a person as your parent would right away state "Must cost a fortune."

Wrong.  The Supra J is stronger then a Hazard Lite scientifically and has the same finish yet is still cheaper!! It is a tad heavier strength/weight considered to price shouldnt be an issue.

Warrantied against defects as far I know.

Pros:
+ Strong
+ Cheap
+ Warrantied
+ No problems yet

Cons:
- Chrome Sucks

Summary:
9.5/10 .. Better chrome would be of my liking.

 Costs: about $49 USD
