[How-to] Tuck No-Hander

This how-to will walk you through the more popular of the two no handed variations, the tuck no hander.

Step 1
Firstly, you will need to gain the correct speed to be able to have time in the air to pull off the trick. No matter
what you are doing the no hander on, or over, i would suggest that aiming to get about 2 feet of air is a good
starting point, although as you can see in the pictures, i only get about a foot. This is not because i am doing
them wrong, its merely because the ramp i was riding at the time was not big enough to get above two feet of air on.

Step 2

Once you are sure that you will get a good height, that you are confident with, you will need to bring the bars into your lap.
To do this, you will need to start by bending your knees almost immediatly after your front wheel leaves the lip of the ramp.
Bending your knees produces a horizontal area on your lap that the bars can rest on while you are not holding them.

Step 3

Once your knees are bent
you will need to get your bars into your lap. This is done by bringing your hands back to your hips and guiding
your bars to your waist. to help me remove my hands from the bars i like to throw my bars into my lap, as you can see in the picture,
my hands have come away from my bars before they are in my lap. Once my bars are in my lap i also lean towards the front wheel. In a way,
folding my midsection over, holding the bars more firmly where i need them to be.

Step 4

Now your hands are away from your bars, that inturn are snugly nestled in your lap, you can concentrate on extending your arms,
there are 4 ways i have seen this done:
  • Suicide style, which is throwing your hands behind your back.
  • Straight Up, Self explanitry
  • To the side, Self explanitry
  • Diagonal, the way i do them.

Throwing your hands off really doesnt have any special technique, as there are multiple ways to do them, but the only way to do any of them is to
commit and throw your arms.

Step 5

Now you have reached the peak of your trick, you need to concentrate on reuniting your hands with the grips. To do this I look at my bars again so i can see
my hands moving towards them, and so i know where exactly my hands are going to be gripping back onto the bars.

Step 6

Now your hands are back holding your bars, you are almost home and dry. All you need to do now is level your bike out so you can land as smoothly as possibly.
To do this bend your legs slightly and extend your arms out, almost the the point where they are rigid and cannot extend any further. If all goes well, your bike should now be level with the
ramp, horizontal in your flying out, nosed if your jumping a box or a dirt double.
(As i mentioned at the beginning the ramp iw as riding whilst filming this sequence did not allow for good flyouts, and there fore the no hander i have performed here may not be quite up to scratch, and hence
why i landed back wheel first.)
