[Review] Primo Balance 7000 series rim.
   by MalvernPigne | 12 Feb 2007 4:11 pm

Now I'm one for light weightness, and i agree it has its advantages.

But I was very disapointed with this rim. I've been running it for around 6 months now, and the only reason I have not replaced it, is because i have no money to get a new one.

Firstly we'll talk about the Positives.

  • Light
  • low side walls, this makes them look nice
  • comes in 48hole, 36hole
  • comes in 3 cool colours, chrome, black, and titanium finnish
now fair enough they are most likely the lightest rim on the market weighing in around 390/400grams.

but it comes at a price the second day i had it, i ran my odyssey path tyre at 90. i aired pretty high and hung up. I heard a big bang. and looked down to find a large dent about 2" wide. i then later that night took an adjustable spanner to it and bent it out again. over time and wear and tear from double whips gone wrong and general hanging up and bashing the rim has egged like nothing you've seen before, the sidewalls are rippled (seriously you could surf on these ripples they're like waves) and it has so many flat spots and dents.

The cons.
  • Pretty weak
  • only for extremely smooth riders
  • or for riders who replace rims every few months
  • expensive, and not really worth it.
To overview i think this rim is great... providing you are a super smooth rider, or are just running it on the front. i'd never recommend you to run this on the rear, as one case and good bye straight undented rim for ever.

i give this product a 6/10.
