Fly Brakes (SS)

Fly Brakes

A few months back I had a dilemma, this dilemma was the choice of getting either Odyssey Evolver 2's of the all mighty Fly Brakes.

Even though they are a fair bit more expensive, I decided to get the Fly's.

Later on that day I was on my way home with $114 dollars worth of Turquoise Fly Brakes in my hand.
I got home and was so excited to get them on my bike....I could hardly stop staring at them to put them on .
I got around to putting them on, after sanding a little tiny bit of rust off my brake lugs, I slid them on.

It was relatively easy to do this because there is a little rubber shim that comes inside the mounts to keep everything together in transit.

I was surprised at how easily they got dialled, as it only took 30min for instalation and tuning. This involved setting up the Cable hanger, cutting the straddle cable to size, installing the pull-stop an fine tuning the pad's and tension.

After running the initial glaze off the top of the Kool Stop Eagle Claw 2 pads they would lock with only a slight pull of 1 finger.....

Now I have run them for over 2 months and I can honestly say I have not had
one problem with these babies.....

Here they are on my baby.

Pros
*Virtually flex free.
*Lightweight.
*Super strong.
*Easily lockable, but still very modulation capable.
*When you want them to lock, THEY WONT MOVE!
*Come with amazing pads.
*Easy to install.
*Easy to dial (for someone who knows what they are doing)
*Sexy colours.
*Strong, solid feeling cable hanger.
*Fly's 2 year warranty (not that you would need it)
*Very low stack height, good for micro geared CS bikes.
*Springs don't snap or bend unlike the Evo's

Cons
*Expensive, but very much worth the extra over Evo's

I give them a 10/10, and thats not being generous.
