[Review] House Profile Axle
   by ATP | 26 Feb 2007 4:00 pm

NOTE: First impressions. Will update after a few weeks of good riding.

Just put it on today, it's commonly bashed on Bikguide, but honestly it's amazing. It allows you to run a flush bolt on the non peg side (assuming you don't run 4 pegs). Its scrutinized because the allen bolt it comes with is a P.O.S., which is true. But on Albes they send you a upgrade hex head 3/8 24tpi bolt for it, so problem solved. It also used a totally unique system. All the hub parts slide right on, so that it is easier to disassemble on the fly. It is held together tightly when you tighten your axle nut and stud, very clever and handy idea. It is also light, hollow, and feels super strong.

NOTE: You need only one shim, the one that sits on top of the driver.

Pros:
-Unique and handy
-Cheap ($15)
-Broached on one end (still don't see what thats for)
-Light
-Comes with dropout adapters for the 3/8 stud
-SUPER EASY to assemble
-Strong
-Can run flush side and a peg on the non flush making a strong good looking axle.

Cons:
-Stock 3/8 Stud is weak, and strips easily (Replaceable for 75 cents to a hex bolt)
-No instructions (not rocket science though)

Overall: PENDING
