[review] profile race cranks

ok a got these cranks a little while ago and am extremely happy with them! they use a 48 spline axle which makes installation and extraction extremely tight (luckily profile give you a nifty installation tool) but it also means that the crankset feels incredibly stiff

the crank arms use a simple 4130 tubular design with the profile name pressed into the arms, this is my only disappointment with the cranks as it does kind of look like the arms are just dented.

The crankset comes with a £150 rrp in RHD (LHD is slightly more) which includes a chromo axle, the arms, 2 sealed bearings (euro is extra) and all the hardware (inc. flush crankbolts) and a load of spacers!
All of the hardware also comes in titanium aftermarket!! The spiderbolt is £11 the flush crankbolt set is £31 and a titanium axle £80 which is roughly ½ the weight of the chromo axle.
The crankset is available with a titanium axle stock at £200 rrp

The crankarms are available in a huge range of sizes and colours:

Colours: Black, Blue, Brown, Green, White or Chrome and new ltd edition colours all the time

Sizes: 160, 165, 170, 175, 177, 180, 182, 185 or 190mm (only 175 in ltd colours!)

PROS
1. profile proves stiff design
2. loads of colours and sizes
3. reasonably light especially with titanium hardware
4. simple looks
5. crank tool included and also ti prep grease
6. great customer service and warranty!!! (thanks matrix)

CONS
1. profile inprint looks like a dent
2. tight to remove and install
3. pretty expensive!!
4. no ti bolts rust quite easily



all in all i rate them 9/10 with chromo hardware
and 9.5/10 with titanium if you can stretch to the price go for it
