[Review] Coalition 6061 Sprocket
   by Andrew Pham | 08 Dec 2005 8:55 pm

After demolishing my stock haro 44t sprocket, i was on the hunt of a sprocket. since i really needed one i went to my bike shop. Saw the coalition sprocket for $40, went home did some research on this sprocket and it sounded pretty good and for a decent cost. It's made outta 6061 of 1/4" thick aluminium.

Next day I bought it and installed it, the gearing was weird because i was running 39/16 so it was a tad bit easier than 44/16. After an hour of getting used to the gearing I went to the local park. Tried a pedal grind and overhung the sprocket, i sprocket grinded a good foot or 2 and checked my sprocket. Guess what? The thing bent. the day that i got the sprocket, tried one trick and it bent. I was so pissed. After riding it for a couple months bent, i went to re-grease my bearings so i took off my crank arm, and looked at my sprocket hole and it was ovalized. after riding this sprocket for only 3 months it bent the first day i got it and ovalized within 3 months.

I rate this sprocket a 3/10.The reason why I give it a few points is because it might be good for anything smaller than 39, and the fact that its a pretty beefy sprocket.

In the end, if your looking for a really good sprocket that wont bend or ovalize, go for a tree sprocket. There $55 and come with a lifetime warranty.

Costs: around $40 USD
