Review

Let me start by putting this rim into context and listing my wheel setup.

Front:

  • Black 36 hole Sun Big City and Gold 36 hole Profile Mini SS hub laced with Black Double Butted DT spokes

Rear

  • Black 36 hole Sun Big City and Gold 36 hole Profile Mini SS Cassette hub laced with Black Double Butted DT spokes.

I’ve been running these wheels ever since day one, which is just over a  year they have put up with a hell of a lot of abuse and as a result they do show signs of wear, which is unsurprising.  The amazing thing is after losing 8 spoke sin the rear and bending the axles the wheel has only got an up and down buckle whereas the front is still perfectly round.  This is testament to some good wheel building (damm I’m good) and the strength of the rim.  I would buy one again and almost did but I want more from my brake these days as I have a lazy finger so I need a chrome rim and I’ve heard bad things about the chrome on Sun rims, yet I’ve heard a few reasons why, a one of bad patch being the best and most believable. If your brakeless or have pads like me and want a black rim to keep that stealthy look then this is the rim for you.

Price wise this is amazing value rim for what you get, only £29 (black) or £35 (chrome).

Summary

1.       Cheap(er than the competition)

2.       Affordable

3.       Superior design to every other rim

4.       Eyeleted

5.       Long lasting

6.       Longevity of the chrome is not great, although this is not from personal experience.

Rating

9/10 just for the fact of the horrible stories I’ve been hearing about the chrome although I may test it out for myself when I get a new rim, which wont be for a very long time.

Costs: around $50 USD
