[Review] Fly - Ruben Alcantara Pedals
   by Trimix | 01 Jul 2006 11:13 am

"Ruben Alcantara Signature Model. Machined alloy construction, chromoly spindle, anodized platform, sealed precision bearings and replaceable allen pins. Includes replacement pins and grip tape for the center of the platform. 15.8 OZ. Come in Brown, White, and Orange."

These pedals are on the expensive side (about $100), but their craftsmanship and quality is evident. These are well made pedals, that feel ergonomically correct. They fit your feet well.

They are GRIPPY, and if you don't like sticky pedals you won't like these. For instance a lot of riders like to adjust and set their feet as they approach and obstacle or ramp, and with the pins and grip tape on these pedals, they are hard to move your feet around on. They are also slightly less of a surface area (smaller) than say a Odyssey JC, Eastern platform, or Primo pedal. Just look at the pin lengths on them.

The grip tape is optional, and the pedals come with extra.

All in all they are great pedals, however it would be nice to have some pin adjustments on them. Personally, I think the product would be a 10 if they included some shorter allen pins also, so that people could adjust the grip of the pedals. I rate them a 7/10.
