Original Shimano U-brakes
   by jaredmi | 18 Feb 2007 10:17 am

They weigh 7.5 ounces and stop better than any other brakes I've ever used. They are pretty rare and hard to come by. I got these brand new for $20 at a vintage bike shop 4 years ago and have been running them ever since with no problems. I also have a set of campagnolo u-brakes, but they literally weigh a pound, maybe I'll get around to posting a picture of them.

Pros:
-Stop great
-No maintenance
-Super stiff
-Internal spring (looks clean)

Cons:

-Rare
-Good like finding a replacement spring if you needed one

I'm glad I bought them 10/10. I wouldn't spend $65 for brakes. I use a linear cable and Primo brake lever.
