[Review] Specialized Fuse 3
   by dr satan | 04 Apr 2007 2:02 pm

I've had this bike for about 6 months. The stock bike looks like someone left it in the rain for a few years but performance wise its pretty good. I got it in the rust (wanted the olive but it couldnt be there for 5 months or something).

The stock weight for the bike is 29.5lbs, not found anywere so i had to email them.

The frame is ok, colour isnt best but i made it awsome by trimming parts with white. Has a random chainstay design, very similar to the mongoose in our backyard which i dont really like.

The fork and handlebars are really light. I took them off to paint them and was amazed at how light they were compared to my friends stock chromo handlebars and fork.

The hubs are anodized pink(look really kool) and sealed with flip flop rear (36t) iv had multiple people ask me how much they cost. The rims are rhino lights 36h which were a bit weak when i got it as i was still starting out but now i ride smoother and can do drop offs and 360's without to much trouble. the tires are a bit heavy but hav awsome grip on cement ramps and ok on dirt.

I replaced the seat with a senior in white bout a week after i got it so i cant tell u much bout the seat but the post is alloy and has a set back about 35mm(i measured it)

The cranks are euro sealed bb with tubular cromo crankarms. They are pretty solid but i stripped the pedal bit so there screwed now. The pedals were SH*T. I wore the pins down in about a month and I kept slipping and killing my schins. I got some jc's after that.

The sprocket was ok but a bit weak. I wore through the sprocket locater bolt hole and cracked it in 2 different spots learning disasters. The stem is top load and they put heaps of spacers on it. I dont really like it but its ok. The brake cable stripped after few months so i got linear slic(white again). The pegs are stock but im pegless so thats not really an issue. My friend adopted them and learned to peg stall and grind on em and hes been running them for a while.

Chain is average, I killed it in a sprocket grind(disaster gone sideways).

It also has fsa impact headset. Very smooth and good till bout 2 weeks ago when i cracked the bottum bearing ring.

pro's:
lightish(29.5lbs)
full chromo fork, handlebars, frame
sealed hubs cool anodizing
sealed bb and headsetstrong cranks
good bike for improvements

cons:
weak rims (i was a hard rider)
stock colour looks like rusty combine harvester
no cassette
bad pedals

price paid: $600aud

mods: painted handlebars and forks, got hookworm tire rear and odyssey path front, got jc pedals, senior seat, kmc kool chain, snafu chunk light sprocket, couple of pairs of grips(3 plus stock)

This was an ok bike for improving. I would rate it 6/10 due to some of the parts were a bit weak.
srry if review to long...
