KMC Pintle Half-Link Chain.
   by ParkLife | 11 Apr 2007 10:01 am

Ok I have been running this chain for a good month of hard riding, and now its reveiw time.

At first I baught this chain to replace my KMC 710 Kool Chain which I couldn't ride anymore because of chain adjustment issues, when I got this chain I went into it with a fair knowledge that Half-Link chains have a tendancy to stretch a lot, but after I had run it for atleast 3 weeks I came to the realisation that this baby does not stretch at all in comarison to the Shadow V2, or my old Kool Chain.

When I put it on I was happily surprised that It didn't break my chainbreaker unlike the Shadow V2 I had, and was a very simple fit, and I am very happy with the length, because now I can run my wheel perfectly slammed.

The Pintle chain is slightly lighter than the Shadow V2, and at equal strength.

I have now been running this chain for a month and a half, and running it hard, on a 25-9 ratio without any problems what so ever.

This is the chain on my baby.

Pro's
*Very high tensile strength, meaning its very strong(1.2t)
*Virtually stretch proof.
*Ease of installation
*Looks better than the Shadow Half-Link
*Weight less than the Shadow Half-Link
*Works fine with 25-9t hearing
*Smooth
*Quiet
*Stays fairly clean, and easy to clean when you have to.
*Looks bitchin.
*Cheaper than the Shadow.

Con's
*A little bit lumpy until it settle's in(about 2 weeks)
*You cant use a quick link as with any half link chain..for you lazy buggers out there.
*A bit pricey over a normal chain like the Kool Chain.

Rating
9/10.
This is because of the price.
