[Review] STANDARD Front-Load Stem
   by jeffgothro | 30 Jul 2007 10:28 pm

I don't think you can count on Standard ever having the number one team, you probably cant count on them on ever being a corporate giant in the bmx industry, thats not what they're about. Standard is a smaller company, and they like it that way, and one thing you can count on Standard for is sticking to there roots and producing top quality products. They continue that tradition with there 2006 FrontLoad stem. To start with, the stem comes in an array of colors, black, silver, red, blue, and green. The 2006 stem weighs in at a scant 11.4oz, not the lightest, but who cares, its a Standard. Seriously, if you want a ultra light stem, check out Standards 2007 Frontload, it weighs in at 9.0oz making it one of the lightest available and it looks HOT. My 2006 Frontload I've been riding on for a couple months and so far its taking a light sessioning at my local park, its had some street thrown at it, along with a few light tumbles here and there and nothing is bent or broke. The stem is attached to your fork via two 1/4 allen bolts. And the bars are attached by four of the same sized bolts. This stem is easy to torque down with an extra long 1/4 allen wrench giving you that little extra tightness you or at least I have never been able to get out of the 6mm's. In fact, be careful not to over tighten this stem, this thing grabs onto your bars like a shark, even non-knurled bars like my Standard 4pc strip bars wont budge no matter how hard I slam them. This is an awesome stem, it looks great, its strong and you can count on it, best of all...it keeps your bars in one place, and of course, its a Standard! Nuff said!

Pros:
Light
Colors
Killer Grip
Fresh Looks
Its A Standard.

Cons:
Can Be Over Tightened.
