[Review] Odyssey Cielencki Pedals
   by Sean13 | 25 Mar 2008 7:42 pm

I’m going through a bit of reviewing phase at the moment, most of my parts are coming to the end of there lives so I thought it to be a suitable time to review them.
Odyssey Cielencki Pedals. One of the most popular pedals apart from maybe the recent take off of plastic pc or tenderisers. I’ve had these since Christmas 2005 now, and there still going strong, I’ve stripped a few threads where the removable pins thread in, and the bearings are a little worse for wear now and are starting to get a bit sloppy. They're fully tightened, and run smooth as a baby’s backside, being the sealed variety. But have some lateral movement. They’re very grippy and hard wearing I do pedal grinds and stalls a lot and the pins wear down very slowly. They have 2 possible downfalls compared to some newer designed pedals on the market now. The price. £24.99 for the unsealed ones, and then rocketing up to £54.99 for the sealed versions. With magnesium ones available for another tenner. Some may find this quite expensive if you maybe compare these to the disposable plastic odysseys, where you pay £9.99 on a monthly basis, but for how long they have lasted me I’m fine with paying the premium over other pedals. Another disadvantage is the weight. 0.70kg (1.54lbs), quite heavy when compared to similar priced pedals like josh stricker tenderises etc. In all I give them 8/10

Pros:
Long lasting.
Grippy.
Smooth.
Loads of colours.
Plenty of spares.

Cons:
Over priced maybe.
On the heavy side
Not every ones cup of tea
Threads for pins, strip real easy
